Monica Place is searching for a passionate leader to fill the position of Executive Director. The Executive Director is accountable to the Board of Directors for the success of ongoing operations within established executive boundaries. Monica Place is a registered charity that provides support to pregnant and parenting youth. Our vision is a collaborative and responsive community where pregnant and parenting youth are safe, supported and valued. Located in Waterloo Region, Monica Place offers services in two locations, Monica Place Waterloo and Monica Place Cambridge. Supporting lives two at a time.
The Executive Director will be responsible for programs, financial, human resource, information technology, tax receipting operations and community presence. The Executive Director will deliver Monica Place’s five-year strategic plan using a strength-based and person-centred approach.
What you will do:
Relationship and Partnership Building
The Executive Director will serve as the spokesperson for the organization and vigorously represent Monica Place in the community by establishing strong working relationships and partnerships with funders, media, influencers, community groups and governments. The breadth and depth of the relationships established and nurtured by the Executive Director are key to Monica Place’s future potential.
Financial Sustainability and Development
The Executive Director provides leadership to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the organization. The Executive Director will develop a strategic approach to fundraising, to work within existing ministry budgets and to identify and deliver sustainable funding streams from stakeholders and partners.
The Executive Director is accountable for content development & delivery of programs meeting requirements in legislation and regulations including but not limited to the Child and Family Services Act, Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act, and Canada Revenue Agency
Ensure adherence to the Ministry of Child and Youth Services service contract with Monica Place including established Ministry Risk assessment expected outcomes.
The Executive Director will lead the organization efficiently and measure, report on performance and goal outcomes to the Board of Directors on a monthly basis and to the Ministry of Children and Youth Services quarterly.
The Executive Director will demonstrate core values including collaboration, innovation, respect for our community and it’s diversity.
The human resources management includes staff, including those in a unionized environment as well as a volunteer program.
7-10 years of organizational leadership experience at an executive or senior leadership level for a not for profit organization
Relevant post-secondary education in Social work or business administration, Masters preferred
Sensitivity and compassion to issues around pregnant and parenting youth
Recognized success as a well -rounded leader who fosters a positive and engaged workplace.
Demonstrated success in strategic fundraising and donor relations.
Capacity to build longstanding and productive relationships with donors, media, community groups and government.
Strong public speaking and facilitation ability.
Excellent financial experience and capability.
Experience in managing in a unionized environment
Excellent knowledge of Information Technology (Both hardware and software components)
